What better way to end the 2017 wedding season than with Nathan and Patricia’s beautiful fall wedding! This event was especially meaningful to me as I was fortunate enough to be the one who captured their proposal back in the fall 2015. I feel like I’ve know Nathan and Patricia longer than any other couple I’ve worked with so far, so when they asked me to photograph their wedding, I was beyond thrilled! However, soon afterwards, I found out I would be expecting my first child just weeks away from Nathan and Patricia’s wedding date. Unfortunately, I knew this meant I would be way too pregnant to photograph their event myself, but being the amazing couple that they are, Patricia and Nathan agreed to have my awesome Pearl Grey associate photographers capture their day instead. And what a fantastic job they did!
As I was sorting through the images this past week, putting together highlights, I feel like I was there! The day began as bridal party arrived to dress and put on their finishing touches at Hatfield Hall on Rose Hulman’s campus. After the bride and groom were ready, the two had their first look on a modern staircase surrounded by natural light, followed by bridal portraits at various autumn colored scenic areas around campus. Just before it was time to head over to the ceremony, the entire wedding party joined the bride and groom for a few photos as well. I have to say, I am LOVING the colorful rainbow of jewel toned bridesmaids dresses in this wedding party! Everyone looked stunning, especially against a backdrop of fall colors.
Once all the pre-ceremony photos were finished, it was time for the guests to take their seats as the wedding party lined up to make their way into the sanctuary of the gorgeous light-filled White Chapel. The bride was escorted down the aisle by both of her parents who happily gave her hand over to Nathan as the two joined together on the altar. The ceremony was traditional and heartfelt with many kind readings and songs given by close friends and family members. Nathan and Patricia pledged their faithfulness to each other, exchanged rings and sealed their love with a kiss before making their way back down the aisle as an official married couple! Soon afterwards, guests lined up outside the chapel to shower the newlyweds with bubbles as they made their grand exit from the ceremony.
While the couple headed back inside the sanctuary to wrap up family photos, the rest of their guests headed over to the O’Shaughnessy Dining Room to begin enjoying the cocktail hour. After the wedding party made their entrance into party, the father of the groom gave a warm welcome to all the guests and soon dinner was served. Once the plates were cleared, the happy couple fed each other macaroons from their custom made macaroon trees instead of opting for a traditional wedding cake. From what I can tell, Patricia seemed to be a little more aggressive with the feeding than Nathan – haha! Next came the official first dance as husband and wife, followed by the father/daughter and of course, the mother/son dance. With reception formalities completed, the dance floor opened up and the real party began. And what a party it must have been, because the open dancing photos are amazing! I am so bummed I couldn’t see it all in person! I even heard the father of the bride jumped up on stage with the live band and serenaded the entire room! How awesome is that?! I am so glad Nathan and Patricia were able to celebrate and dance the night with family and friend because they deserve a fantastic ending to a perfect wedding day.
To the wonderful couple, Mr & Mrs Wheeler, please let me say how honored I am that you allowed Pearl Grey Photography to capture your proposal, engagement session AND now wedding day! I feel truly blessed to have been a part of your love story. I wish you guys the best of luck as you start this new chapter as husband and wife. Congratulations once again!
