Oh my goodness, I can’t imagine a better way to bring the 2019 bat/bar mitzvah season to a close! I am so pumped to be posting highlights from Noah’s incredible Survivor themed bar mitzvah. We began last Saturday morning at the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation with Torah and family photos in the sanctuary. Afterwards, the Kahn family made their way into Rabbi Schapiro’s office for a few final moments of reflection and preparation before Noah’s bar mitzvah service.
Later that evening, the celebration continued with the Survivor themed party at The Willows on Westfield in Broad Ripple. Guests entered the main ballroom to find tribe themed tables, custom made challenge and game stations, along with hors’douvres and popcorn/drink stations. As cocktail hour came to a close, guests were invited to take their seats as Brian and Emily gave a heartfelt welcome to their friends and family. They also called Noah up to view a special presentation – personalized video messages from several former Survivor contestants, made especially for Noah! And if that wasn’t enough, there was one more giant surprise. After the videos, Survivor winner Rupert Boneham made his way into the room for a surprise appearance! After a short congratulatory speech, he sat around the Tribal Counsel “fire” to tell Survivor stories, share inspiration and sign autographs for all the party guests. Dinner was served shortly afterward, followed by the Hora where four strong men hoisted Noah into the air while his family and friends joined hands to dance around him. The festivities continued well into the evening as DJ Tim Fuller opened up the dance floor while both adults and kids danced their socks off, followed by a custom made donut wall and a s’mores roasting station. A perfect ending to a fantastic day!
To the Kahn family, let me say how much fun I had photographing Noah’s bar mitzvah! I am so honored to have been a part of such an important day in the life of your family. Thank you for allowing me to capture it all!
