Indianapolis Bar Mitzvah Photographer | Garrison Bar Mitzvah

I am so thrilled to be posting highlights from another Garrison bar mitzvah! It seems like only yesterday that I was photographing Nick’s “geek mitzvah“, but now it is Justin’s turn to celebrate! A couple weekends ago, I met up with Justin and his family to capture his bar mitzvah. We began the morning with family shots and then torah portraits. Once we wrapped up photos in the sanctuary, we moved into the rabbi’s office for Justin to sign his official paperwork and hear some words of encouragement before the service began. Justin was so upbeat and calm about the whole process – I know he did an amazing job leading his bar mitzvah service!
Later that evening, I arrived at Justin’s luau themed dinner and party held at the Woodland Country Club. Everything was decked out in grass skirts, tikis and Hawaiian themed decor – it was awesome! Guests arrived to enjoy snacks and appetizers along with a tropical themed drinks for the adults. Soon it was time for everyone to take their seats as Justin lead the room in a sand pouring ceremony. He recognized individual friends and family members who have impacted his life, and had each of them pour a cup of colored sand into a large glass container which he can keep as a reminder of all those very important people. Next came the blessing over the bread and wine, followed by the dinner buffet. Once the plates were cleared, DJ Ben Schreiber got the fun started with party game called “Heads or Tails” where each participant has to guess the outcome of a coin toss by placing their hands on either their head or “tail”. After several intense and exciting rounds of elimination, a lovely young lady won the grand prize of a crisp five dollar bill. Afterwards, Justin joined his mom on the dance floor with a very heartwarming mother/son dance. Half way though, Nick joined his mom and brother in the dance as well. Next, everyone joined hands and circled around Justin as he was hoisted into the air during the Hora (my favorite part of every bar mitzvah!) The dancing and mingling continued well into the evening as guests enjoyed the amazing custom dessert table, candy bar and photo booth with crazy props.
To Lilya, Joe, Karl, Kerra, Nick, and of course Justin, I can’t thank you enough for asking me to capture another fantastic event for your family! I have loved working with you all. Mazel tov!
