Despite being postponed, relocated and downsized a bit, the Hurwitz family refused to let COVID19 ruin Ethan’s bar mitzvah – and I’m so glad! Pivoting from a typical bar mitzvah service held inside a sanctuary, Ethan had his bar mitzvah in the comfort of his own backyard. Under a tent in the fresh air, close family members sat together in support of Ethan, and many who were unable to be there in person were able to join the service via Zoom.
Later that evening, Ethan and his friends gathered together in the backyard for a socially distanced celebration. Upon their arrival, guests received a customized “Big Mouth” mask, signed the guest book and made their way back to the party tent. There were plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained – airbrush tattoos, green screen photo booth station and a Kona Ice truck. After dinner was served, friends and family enjoyed a slideshow of Ethan followed by a donut buffet. Yum! To finish out the evening, DJ Tim Fuller kept the grass dance floor hopping well after the sun went down.
To the Hurwitz family, let me say how honored I am that you allowed Pearl Grey to capture such a memorable event for your family! I can’t wait for you guys to see the rest of your images. Enjoy!
